Versatile actor Kota Srinivasa
Rao is all set to be conferred with Padma Shri if reports are anything to go
by. 67-yr-old Kota will be honoured with Padma Shri Tomorrow in New Delhi on
the eve of India's 66th Republic Day. Sources in the know confirmed that Union
Government has chosen Kota for this prestigious award.
Debuted into films with Telugu movie Pranam Khareedu in 1978, Kota has been an uncompromising actor having acted in over 700 films across Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam besides Telugu. He also forayed into politics and served as BJP MLA from Vijayawada East assembly from 1999 - 2004. He is still continuing in BJP.
The other Padma Awardees include actor Dilip Kumar, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and scriptwriter Salim Khan, badminton player P V Sindhu, wrestler Sushil Kumar and Arunima Sinha, the first woman amputee mountaineer to climb Mount Everest. However, it's not yet clear which names have been picked for which awards. More details are awaited.
