“No One Takes A Panga With Me Now” – Priyanka Chopra

Bollywood’s current tough girl Priyanka Chopra has been creating buzz with her performance in her upcoming sports biopic Mary Kom. She has impressed critics and actors alike with her hard work and determination for the film. Five-time successive World Boxing champion MC Mary Kom was so pleased with Priyanka’s performance in her biopic that the boxer gifted her prized pair of boxing gloves wearing which she won her first world championship game to the actress!
Priyanka Chopra was thrilled to receive such an inspiring gift from Mary. She was playfully seen bullying people with her new gift and said, “No one takes a panga with me now, I have become a boxer, and I have boxing gloves too!” Mary Kom is close to Priyanka’s heart and these gloves have made it even more special.
The actress spent four months of rigorous training to get into a boxer’s body. Speaking about her experience she said, “I didn’t realize how difficult it would be for my body. As a woman it is hard to get muscles the way boys do. I would train for three hours to get this body…..it was very difficult. Through this film I personally learnt a lot about dedication, strength, family and I hope the audience does the same.” Those gloves are sign of her commitment to the project and she is proud of it.
Mary Kom, the film is about the Indian Boxer and Olympic Bronze medalist MC Mary Kom. Depicting her life, struggles, family and her perseverance to be the best – Priyanka Chopra stars as Mary Kom along with Darshan Kumaar, Sunil Thapa, Shishir Sharma and American actor Zachary Coffin. Directed by Omung Kumar, Mary Kom is produced by Viacom18 Motion Pictures & Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film is scheduled for release on September 5, 2014.
