And King
Khan understands grandeur. The trailer of Happy New Year conveys that and more. The glittering
ensemble cast of the film put up a stellar show obviously and though the
trailer was all a King Khan show, the actor insists it wasn’t about one actor.
Conveying
the gist of the film, the superstar sums up the theme saying, “This film is not
about one actor. This film is about goodness, hope and belief. It is dedicated
to people who think, they are losers. Life gives you another chance to fix it
all. If you try and lose, you cannot be a loser. Everytime you achieve
something, keep doing something new. Prosperity and posterity shouldn’t stop
you from achieving newer things. The Indiawale Taale Todengey too has a similar
connotation. The connotation is like freedom. Six losers break every shackles of
their life.”
Farah Khan is
helming a film after a good respite and it is important for her to fare well
this time to keep her career going the right way. Ask her what was her biggest
challenge and Farah replies with, “It was important to create an original heist
film. Though it is based out of a formula but to write something that hasn’t
been seen before was difficult. The writing took almost a year.”
The film has
success written all over it in bold words but it will sell in the name of King
Khan and for being a Quintessential Bollywood potboiler. On being asked about
the scope of this film abroad, producer Shah Rukh Khan replied with, “Billions
will be difficult. Avatar is the only one. But Happy New Year makes something novel as it
blends in dance and heist, bringing together diametrically opposite genres.
This film can compete with anything international in terms of quality. The
scale, idea, thought and belief is all mega size that will make Indians abroad
proud of Bollywood.”
