Box Office
levels have been multiplying over the last few big releases of 2013 and now
that we are down to 2014, the baits are just getting higher. It will be Salman Khan’s Eid release after a year and
this film being Sajid Nadiadwala’s
directorial debut, Salman and Sajid Nadiadwala are leaving no stone unturned to
present it with grandeur. Clearly the box office magnitude of a film like this
is massive and hence one can expect that this film will kick start
the array of record smashings this year. Last year it was Ranbir Kapoor’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani whose lifetime number nearly touched
200 crores. And then it was Shah Rukh Khan who captured Eid by setting newer box
office records for the industry.
Chennai Express recorded the highest opening day
collections when it upped the bar with a shocker number of 33.10
crores on its Day
1. The highest opening day record was held by Salman’s Eid release from 2012
which was the first film to make a 30 crores plus opening and on its first day made 32.92
crores at the
domestic box office.
Salman’s
films have recorded a terrific leaping growth year-on-year. Wanted, that released in 2009 Eid released in
1400 screens and made an opening day business of 5.2
crores. Dabangg released
in Eid 2010 released in 1900 screens and saw an opening day number of 15.10 crores which was 10 crores higher than his
last Eid release. In 2011, Bodyguard released in 2800 screens and the film
opened nearly 6 crores higher than his last release with an
opening day income of 21.40 crores. In 2012, Ek
Tha Tiger released in
3400 screens on Eid and recorded Salman’s highest opening day earning of 32.90
crore.
It was a
surprise when Shah Rukh khan starrer Chennai Express releasing in 3600 screens beat
Salman’s Ek Tha Tiger‘s opening day number by
making 33.10 crores. In 2013, Krrish 3 despite
opening lower with24.25
crores beat Chennai
Express‘ record of the highest single day collections with 35.91
crores on its
fourth day. The highest single day record at the box office is currently held
by Dhoom 3 which
opened with 36 crores beating its own opening day collection
by making 37.75 crores on its 1st Sunday.
Salman’s Kick has a very vibrant buzz around and
given Salman’s year-on-year growth, the film should atleast make a business
of 40 crores on the Day of Eid or even on Day 3
i.e. 1st Sunday. The film is expected to release in nearly 4500 screens and
even the ticket prices have been maintained consistently high like any other
festive release. Fans be rest assured that this Salman Khan flick will be
thunderous kyunki Eid aa rahi hai aur woh apni Eidi lene zarur aayega!
