PK Has 2nd Highest Opening Weekend Of 2014, HNY Tops The List

The year was filled with some big releases such as Kick, Happy New Year, Singham Returns and PK. WhilePK has scored 95.21 crores over its opening weekend, it has become the second highest opening weekend of the year. The Aamir Khan film inspite of being a non-holiday release performed extremely well.

Topping the list, of Top 5 Highest Opening Weekend Collections, is Shah Rukh Khan’s Diwali release, Happy New Year which crossed the 100 crore mark over its opening weekend itself by collecting 108.86 crores over the first weekend. Coming third is Hrithik Roshan-Katrina Kaif starrer romantic-thriller Bang Bang. The film made a collection of 94.13 crores on its first weekend.

The highest grosser of the year, Salman Khan’s Kick became the fourth highest opening weekend grosser with a collection of 83.50 crores.

Also Ajay Devgn starrer Singham Returns is the fifth highest opening weekend grosser with a collection of77.55 crores. Interestingly, among the Top five highest weekend grossers of the year, PK is the only film to have been a non-holiday release and yet became the second highest first weekend grosser of the year.
