The biopic Mary Kom has now been declared tax free in the state of Assam. The film was already exempted from the entertainment tax in other states of Maharashtra, UP and MP.
The Assam
government decided to make the film tax free since it is based on the life of
Olympic medal winning boxer Mary Kom, who has made the North-East and the whole
country extremely proud after achieving the bronze medal in the Olympics. This
inspiring tale needs to be heard and in order to reach wider audiences, it is
being made tax free.
Mary Kom has also been a five-time world champion and
only a handful of people know about this. Directed by Omung Kumar, the film
stars Priyanka Chopra in lead roles and is slated to release on 5th September,
2014.
