Review : Loukyam – Safe festive outing

A Director like Srinu Vaitla comes out with single movie per year thereby keeping all the efforts and focus on that single flick. In contrast Kona Venkat and batch manufacture several movies. There are all chances of mix and match sequences in this situation. Kona Venkat and team seems to test the audience pulse placing comedy in the lead role. Let us go in detail how Loukyam looked on the screen.

Story line :-

Meka Venkateswara Rao alias Venky is a Warangal Lad. He comes across with local goon called Babji (Sampath Raj). Babji targets Venky because Venky supports Babji’s sister and gets her married to her loved one against Babji’s will. Venky moves to Hyderabad to escape from Babji. There he falls in love at first sight with a gorgeous girl Chandrakala (Rakul). They get closer. Chandrakala is engulfed in some trouble from some bad guys. Who are those bad guys ? Did Venky succeed in rescuing his lady love ? How Did Venky survive from Babji’s trap ? How did Venky prove his love ? All the responses to these questions are answered on the large screen.

Cast :-

Gopi Chand’s role may be new to him but not the first of its kind in telugu film industry. Many movies have earlier come with same roles and situations revolving Hero in succeeding his love life. These intelligent tricks played by the Hero are also not new. But the attire of Gopichand and his pairing with bubbly and gorgeous Rakul Preet Singh have added a new flavour in their chemistry. She justified her role. Her glamour will certainly take her to the next step. Brahmanandam is again made as a scape goat in between hero and villain. His role as Sippy the Cab driver has gained the importance. 30 years Pruthvi too showed his comical skills and reminded MS Narayana in Dookudu. Chandra Mohan and Pragati seems to over act but was more or less bearable in comedy angle. Sampath Raj’s screams could have been minimised. Hamsa nandini as Brahmi’s wife did not actually fit but the comedy strip in between them went on well. Posani added tickles to the audience.

Technical :-

Director Sriwass has aptly done his work. His smooth handling of Hero Gopichand, heroine and optimal utilisation of the huge casting is commendable. Its surprising how Sridhar Seesa could convince hero Gopichand with this routine type story. Anoop Rubens has justified his tunes matching to the role of Gopichand. His soothing tunes are worth hearing repeatedly. RR work could have been focused a bit more. On the whole music department has sailed safely. Editing department could have further fine tuned. Producer has kept in best resources thereby adding richness to all the frames. Producer didn’t compromise in bringing lavishness. Camera work is good.
